SHUSHU/TONG
A Decade of Defining Style

As Shanghai Fashion Week FW25 came to a close, one show stole the spotlight—Shushu/Tong. The talented design duo, Liushu Lei and Yutong Jiang, once again captivated with a collection that felt like it was pulled straight out of a movie scene, leaving a powerful impression.
Celebrating their 10th anniversary, this collection proved how Chinese fashion is carving its own path on the global stage. Yet, rather than following international trends, Shushu/Tong remained true to their unique approach: designs that speak to women everywhere, blending beauty with authenticity. They’ve moved beyond the label of ‘Asian fashion’, instead creating a genre all their own.
Twin Souls: Alike, Yet Distinct

The inspiration behind this collection came from Diane Arbus’s famous photograph “Identical Twins.” The designers explored the idea of two people who’ve grown together, influencing each other, but still experiencing the world in their own distinct ways—similar, yet never the same.
This theme was reflected in the collection through polished yet playful twinsets. Straight skirts with frilled hems, capri pants, and delicate floral embroidery added a sense of fun and lightness, giving the designs both structure and softness. Each piece felt crafted to perfection while still remaining effortlessly wearable.
The collection evoked the feeling of stepping into a secret girlhood sanctuary, with shades of emerald green curtains and red-checkered sofas—a space where nostalgia meets modern charm. Models carried small handbags filled with fresh flowers, creating an air of spontaneity and playfulness. The styling suggested a woman who could be lounging on a sofa stitching, off to a picnic, or heading to a dinner—an effortless blend of fantasy and everyday life.
A Book in a Bag, A Message to Take Home

One of the most memorable details of the show was the Sally Rooney book, Beautiful World, Where Are You, tucked inside handbags. It wasn’t just a prop; it carried a deeper message—the search for love, connection, and meaning in today’s world.
With this collection, Shushu/Tong proved that fashion is more than just clothes—it’s about telling stories, sparking emotions, and starting conversations. As they celebrate a decade of reshaping the way we see femininity, one can’t help but wonder what the next ten years will bring. If this show is anything to go by, we’re in for even more thought-provoking, beautiful, and unforgettable designs.
